Over the seven seasons of Pretty Little Liars, we saw some of Rosewood's residents meet their, often grisly, end. Let's take a moment to remember them by reading their obituaries from the archives of Rosewood's local paper, The Rosewood Observer. Seems over the years the real gossip column was the obituary section.
Then put your knowledge of Rosewood's dearly (and not so dearly) departed to the test with the PLL 'Who Killed Who' quiz.
Born in Rosewood, PA. Passed away from apparent suicide.
Ian was born and raised in Rosewood. He was the beloved coach of the Rosewood High School Field Hockey Team. He loved working with teenagers and was an avid golfer. Or, at least, took many a trip to Hilton Head. It’s unclear if he actually golfed while there. The circumstances surrounding his death are a little murky.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa, and his aunt.
She was born in San Jose, CA.
Maya was a troubled youth but finally had her life back on track when she was brutally slain. She lived life in the grey areas. Maya wasn’t afraid to get into trouble if it meant she got to have a little fun. She got into a lot of trouble, but she was always true to herself. She also had a way of helping people figure out who they were, deep down. She made it okay for those around her to be true to themselves as well. It was, perhaps, her greatest gift. Friends say seafood gave her hives.
In an unsettling coincidence, Maya lived in the very same bedroom as that of another well known murdered young woman, Alison DiLaurentis.
Maya is survived by her parents and brother, as well as her girlfriend, Emily.
Lyndon James a.k.a. Nate St. Germain
Lyndon’s story in Rosewood begins and ends with a death. He came to Rosewood in the wake of the murder of Maya St. Germain, and left answering for that crime. He moved to Rosewood under the pseudonym Nate St. Germain and enrolled at Hollis College. He quickly became friends with those who knew Maya the best. What no one knew is that he was not, in fact, her cousin, but had been staking her since they met, and briefly dated, at True North. When he kidnapped two local girls, he was stabbed as they escaped and his final act was to shoot the boy who showed up to help them.
He is survived by some family… probably.
One of Rosewood’s finest (though in this town, that’s not saying much), Officer Garrett Reynolds was found shot to death and locked in a large box on the Halloween Train just outside of Rosewood. He had recently been in police custody and charged with the murders of Alison DiLaurentis and Maya St. Germain. He was released when someone else admitted to the murder of Miss St. Germain.
He is survived by his mother, who is currently in hospice care at Rosewood Memorial Hospital.
Detective Wilden was a Rosewood boy all his life. He went to Rosewood High and joined the force after graduating. Quickly working his way up to Detective, he was assigned the notorious case of Alison DiLaurentis’ murder.
In his youth Darren was a bit of a partier, and known to cause trouble. He would frequently summer in Cape May where he was often referred to as “Beach Hottie.”
There are those who still feel his presence. Every so often we here at the paper receive a call from someone claiming to have seen the slain Detective.
His death is currently unsolved, but he was shot twice and then stuffed into the trunk of a police car, hidden under a dead pig and left in front of the Rosewood Church.
Born in South Carolina, she moved to Rosewood a few months ago. Shana was found dead in a theater in New York. Authorities do not know how she came to be there or if she was there alone.
Shana was an avid swimmer, competing for the Rosewood High School Girls Swim Team. She also played the violin and worked at the local Rosewood Halloween Spooktacular Store.
She is survived by her loving family.
Services will be held at Lord's Baptist Church of Leona.
Jessica was a special kind of mother. She would do anything for her children. As long as they remained on her good side. She was an avid gardener and philanthropist. She also served on the boards of many local charities and hospitals.
The one dim spot in an otherwise colorful life came a few years ago when her daughter went missing, and then was found dead in her own backyard. The trauma caused Jessica and her family to leave Rosewood for awhile, before returning to resume running the family business.
Perhaps she should have stayed gone, as her time in Rosewood ended with her being poisoned and buried in the neighbor's yard, not far from where her own daughter was found.
At least she will finally be with her daughter.
Editor's note: Police are now reporting that Jessica's daughter just appeared back in Rosewood. The body found under the DiLaurentis gazebo has yet to be identified.
Wayne served the Pennsylvania National Guard and died while serving his country overseas. He was a kind and understanding father, and a devoted husband. His absence has left deep wounds in the hearts of those he left behind.
He is survived by his daughter, Emily, and wife, Pam.
Charlotte was many things to many people. She could be your best friend or your worst enemy. Your most trusted confidant or the one who revealed your darkest secrets. She was brilliant, clever and beautiful. A tech wizard and a financial genius.
Charlotte always knew who she was, and never apologized for it.
She had a hard childhood, spending time in and out of institutions. Her family abandoned her and she had to find her own way.
Yes, there was that little incident of her stalking four girls and locking them (and at least one other girl) in an underground bunker, but that kind of thing can happen to the best of us, and she did her time and with the help of some talented professionals she got better.
It’s such a shame that when she was finally released, that she was murdered that very night. A young woman entering the prime of her life.
Charlotte will be missed.
Archer Dunhill a.k.a. Elliott Rollins
By all accounts, Archer Dunhill was not the greatest of men. In the town of Rosewood, that is saying something. He came to Rosewood under the guise of being a psychologist, Elliott Rollins, who, it was recently discovered, has been dead for many years. It’s still unclear why he came here or why he chose to treat Charlotte DiLaurentis after the incident a few years ago. But he made Alison DiLaurentis (Charlotte’s cousin) his target. They married and she was soon also committed to an institution. It’s while she was there that Archer disappeared. The police only realized he had passed when they received his finger in the mail.
He is survived by his wife, Alison DiLaurentis.
Born in Courtland, PA.
“Shower” (as her friends call her) went missing a couple of years ago in the nearby town of Courtland. She turned up two years later when five local teens were rescued from a kidnapping. She had been taken two years earlier and suffered from Stockholm syndrome. The night the kidnapper was caught, she suffered an injury that left her unable to use her hands. Despite that, her friends always were impressed by her impeccable hygiene.
Sara was found dead in the shower, authorities are unsure if foul play was involved. Said a close friend, “It’s a great comfort knowing she died doing what she loved best.”
Born and raised in Rosewood, PA.
Noel Kahn was well liked in high school, a member of the football team and occasional musician. He was known for his legendary parties and even more legendary face. Some saw him as a bully, others saw him as a terror.
The circumstances surrounding his death, being decapitated by an axe from a suit of armor in an abandoned blind school, are suspicious. But the girls who were present at the event assure authorities that he merely slipped and fell backwards, decapitating himself.
He is survived by his brother and parents.
