Hanna and Lucas first hit it off at a 'Real Love Waits' meeting in season 1.
And Hanna's boyfriend, Sean Ackard, was not happy about their friendship!
Lucas went to Homecoming to take pictures for the yearbook, and to cast his vote for Hanna to become Queen!
It soon became pretty clear that Lucas was crushing hard on his new friend!
Lucas managed to anger Sean even further when he took pictures of the newly crowned Homecoming King and Queen.
Could Sean have felt threatened?
Hanna seemed more herself around Lucas than when she was with her actual boyfriend!
When Hanna was struggling for cash, Lucas helped her sell handbags and clothes online.
Meanwhile, Mona was horrified that Hanna would make friends with someone so nerdy.
She knew how hard it was to become the It-Girl of the school, and didn't want to get dragged back down again.
When Hanna broke her leg, Lucas snuck into her hospital room and kissed her on the forehead.
Knowing what had happened, Hanna had to kindly, but firmly, friend zone Lucas.
He felt that Hanna deserved a much better boyfriend than Sean!
After too many drinks at a party at Hanna's house, Lucas and Sean almost ended up in a fight over her!
Lucas also admitted to destroying Alison's memorial as he hated seeing her remembered so positively when she used to make his life hell at school.
Alison had terrible names for everyone like "Hermy" for Lucas, and "Hefty Hanna" for her BFF.
As if things weren't already tough enough, 'A' knew just how to hurt Hanna and Lucas even more...
And Hanna had no choice but to follow the cruel orders from 'A' as she needed the money to help out her mom.
'A' went on to up the stakes further.
A drunken Emily called out Hanna for being so awful to Lucas, telling her that Alison would have been proud of how terribly she was treating him!
Not yet satisfied, 'A' twisted the knife one final time.
Sean was furious that Hanna was dancing with Lucas all night and broke things off with her!
Hanna was devastated and cried on Lucas's shoulder.
Lucas was left feeling majorly rejected when Hanna went home with Spencer and Emily, leaving him all alone at the end of the dance.
And we worried that their friendship might be officially over!
In For Whom The Bell Tolls, Hanna asked Lucas if he was going to stay mad at her forever, and he replied with "probably."
But when Lucas figured out that Mona hadn't given Hanna a letter from Caleb, he confronted her!
Unbeknownst to Hanna...
While she was majorly upset at home!
Lucas was driving Caleb back to Rosewood as he wanted Hanna to be happy, even though he knew he was foiling his own chances of getting the girl!
Such a great guy!
We love that Hanna and Lucas are still BFFs so many years down the line.
And we're super excited that they're going into business together.
Lucas and Hanna forever!
