Could Elliott be AD?!
Hanna is seen putting a fake engagement ring on that she's bought for $39.99. Aria arrives and spots what looks like two burn marks on Hanna’s back. She tries to ask about them, but Hanna avoids her questions. Spencer and Emily show up, and Emily persuades the Liars that they should be suspicious of Elliott. They begin to think that Elliott could be AD and decide that they must get Alison out of Welby as soon as possible. While Hanna, Aria, and Emily go to Welby to see if they can speak to someone in charge, Spencer decides to go to find Toby to see if he can find a connection between Mary Drake and Elliott. Meanwhile, at Welby, Alison attacks Elliott, but he manages to sedate her and strap her to the bed once again.
Before the Liars go to Welby, they stop at The Brew where Emily discovers she has got the bartending job at the Radley. She spots Sabrina and asks her out for dinner, but Sabrina turns her down, having still not forgiven her for the time she helped Aria steal the key to Ezra’s apartment. While Emily is speaking to Sabrina, Aria tries to talk to Hanna, but she is still acting evasive. When Aria says that she understands what Hanna must be going through, Hanna snaps at her, saying that what she went through was not the same as being in the Dollhouse. Meanwhile, Spencer arrives at Toby’s place only to discover that he isn’t there. Instead, Yvonne opens the door and tells Spencer that she and Toby are now engaged to be married. Deciding she needs to let Toby move on and live his life, Spencer decides not to ask for Toby’s help anymore.
Back to Welby!
At Welby, the Liars talk to Dr. Freedman who didn’t know that Alison was being treated by Elliott. When the Liars threaten to file a complaint against Elliott and Dr. Freedman, he decides to meet with Elliott and check up on Alison’s progress. Elliott tells Dr. Freedman that Alison has had a few bad days, but is doing better now. Dr. Freedman checks her chart and concludes that everything is going well. Meanwhile, Spencer arrives home and tries to talk to Caleb about their relationship. When questioned, Caleb tells Spencer about his kiss with Hanna. Spencer then asks whether it was just a kiss (which she can handle) or if he still has feelings for Hanna. Before Caleb can answer, however, Spencer gets a call from Jason.
Time to get those detective hats on!
Later on, Spencer tells the Liars about her call from Jason and about how he had no idea Alison was in Welby, meaning Elliott must have lied when he said he had spoken to him. Spencer also tells them about Toby’s engagement and that she thought it would be best to leave Toby out of their problems, but Emily is annoyed that she is not more concerned about Alison. They decide to go to Alison’s house to look for evidence and while Emily gets the key, she also secretly takes Mary Drake’s Radley file from Spencer's bag. Emily leaves to go to work while the other Liars make their way to Alison’s house.
Breaking and entering (kind of)!
Spencer and Hanna keep guard outside while Aria sneaks into Elliott and Alison’s house, looking for evidence. Spencer asks Hanna about Jordan, but Hanna does not tell her that they have broken up. Spencer then tells Hanna that she knows about her and Caleb’s kiss. Hanna apologizes and tells Spencer that she is definitely over him; Caleb was her past and Jordan is now her future. Aria, meanwhile, has opened the locked trunk in Elliott’s bedroom and is taking photos of all the things inside it - tools, syringes, notes, and vials – when she gets a text from Spencer telling her that Elliott has arrived home. On her way out, she spots one of Elliott’s credit card statements and takes a photo of that, too. As the Liars drive away, Elliott watches from his window. Later, they look through Aria’s photos and spot a payment on his credit card statement that was for a B&B near Elliott’s family farm. Aria and Hanna decide to drive up there to see if they can speak to Elliott’s family, while Spencer stays behind to try and work out what Elliott has been doing with the things they found in his trunk.
Surprising ties are found!
On their way to the family farm, Aria tells Hanna that she and Liam broke up, but Hanna still doesn’t say anything about her break up with Jordan. When they arrive, they discover that Elliott lied about his family having a farm and that there is no one by the name of “Rollins” in the area. They then talk to a little girl who tells them that they look just like her dolls. She shows them her dolls and says that Alison is her favorite because she looks just like Charlotte. They then ask the girl if she ever saw Elliott and Charlotte together and the girl replies that she saw them all the time. She also tells them that she once caught them kissing, but before Hanna and Aria can ask any further questions, the girl is called away and they are asked to leave. On their way out, Hanna spots a cattle prod, which reminds her of being locked up and tortured by AD. When Aria asks if she is all right, she points to the cattle prod and tells Aria that that is what AD used on her.
A bartender and detective all in one!
At the Radley, Emily serves Sabrina and tells her that she really likes her, but is interrupted when another girl arrives and kisses Sabrina. She asks Emily for a drink and so Emily returns to the bar. On her break, she phones Spencer to tell her what happened. Spencer then fills her in on everything she has found out. She says that the list of ingredients written down on a piece of paper found in Elliot’s trunk make latex, which is something that is used to make masks. Because blue contacts were also found in his trunk, the girls make the connection that Elliott must have pretended to be Detective Wilden in order to make Alison think she was crazy! Later on, Sabrina goes to the bar to order another drink and tells Emily that the girl who kissed her was only her ex-girlfriend. She then says that she judged Emily too quickly and so asks her out for dinner, which Emily agrees to.
Heartaches and headaches!
Caleb talks to Spencer and tells her that he really wants to make their relationship work, but Spencer tells Caleb that she loves him and that she’s not sure she can be with someone who only likes her. Meanwhile, Toby and Yvonne are celebrating their engagement when Emily arrives and asks Toby if he can help find a connection between Mary Drake and Elliott. Toby says he will take a look into it and call Emily if he finds anything. Later on, Emily meets with Spencer and they discuss the items found in Elliott’s trunk. They discover that Elliott could be using a stimulant on Alison that in high doses can cause delusions, hallucinations, and thought disorder.
A shocking ending!
Later that night, Toby performs a background search on Elliott and discovers a violation from 1958. Meanwhile, Elliott discovers that the key to his trunk is not in its regular place. He then goes to Welby where he wakes Alison and tells her that there has been a change of plans. Back at Spencer’s house, the Liars are discussing whether to go to the police or not when they get a text from Elliott showing his pinned location, revealing he is on the move. They decide that it must have been from Alison and so set out to follow them. In Elliott’s car, Alison is pretending to be asleep. When the car slows, she is able to get out and make a run for it! Elliott immediately follows her, almost catching her until, out of nowhere, he is hit by the Liars’ car…!
