Gilles Marini first captivated audiences as Dante, the steamy neighbor living next door to Samantha in the feature film “Sex and the City.” He played the object of “Samantha's” desires and quickly became of the object of millions of other women's desires as well. Several choice scenes made Gilles instantly recognizable in the United States and abroad.
During his summer hiatus from the show, Marini filmed director Harris Goldberg’s romantic comedy “The List”opposite Jennifer Morrison, Patrick Fugit and Eddie Kaye Thomas. The film is a romantic comedy about a young man who undertakes the task of fulfilling a self-improvement list to secure the girl of his dreams.
Marini recently competed on “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars.” He also starred on ABC's marquee family drama “Brothers & Sisters.” He portrayed Luc Laurent, a painter and bon vivant who falls in love with Sarah Walker during her time in France and ultimately follows her back to Pasadena.
Gilles has guest starring roles in some of primetimes favorite shows including “Modern Family,” “Hot In Cleveland,” “Are You There Chelsea?,” “Royal Pains” and “Castle.” He had an arc on the F/X drama “Nip/Tuck.” He played Renaldo Panettiere, Erica Noughton's (played by Vanessa Redgrave) husband and a man concealing disturbing tendencies.
Other television credits include “Dancing with the Stars,” “Ugly Betty,” “Dirty Sexy Money,” “Criminal Minds,” and “Windfall.” Film credits include “L'une et L’Autre,” “One and The Other,” and “Pirates of the Caribbean 3.”
Marini started his acting career in commercials and print ads and has been in national campaigns for a wide range of brands including Budweiser, Clairol, Coca Cola, Chrysler, GNC, and Infiniti. He is currently the face of the Perry Ellis brand AXIST.
Marini was born in Grasse, France and became an American Citizen in June 2012. He started working in his father’s bakery at the age of 8 and continued to do so until he graduated from high school. Upon graduation, Marini joined the French Army and was stationed in Paris as a fireman for the famous Brigade des Sapeurs Pompiers de Paris. It was in Paris where he met Fred Goudon, the famous photographer who introduced him to the world of modeling. After fulfilling his military duties, he decided to go to the United States to learn English while working as a model.
In his spare time, Marini enjoys playing soccer as part of a neighborhood team and as part of the Hollywood United Soccer Team. He played at Wembley Stadium for Soccer Aid 2008 where he scored the most impressive goal in the game. He also donates a lot of his time and resources to the Maximum Hope Foundation, a charity that raises funds for families with terminally ill children. Marini currently resides in California with his wife Carole, son Georges, and daughter Juliana.
