What is "acceptable" in the dating world has definitely changed.
Couples are happy to say they met online. Women proudly split the check on dates and thanks to The Bold Type ladies 'bread sticks and kissing in the back of a fancy car' is the best date ever. Yet despite all this, some old-fashioned dating "rules" continue to linger. We vote the below should be forgotten immediately.
Girls shouldn't make the first move -- it seems desperate.
No, it doesn't. Ladies, text first. Make plans with your crush. Approach that gorgeous stranger making eyes at you at the bar. The first move is a bold one, but if they don't appreciate that kind of thing then they're not worth your time.
Dress up for your date.
No! Dress for you. Whatever makes you feel sexy is whatever is going to make you feel the most comfortable. If killer heels make you feel like Wonder Woman then rock those stilettos, but if it's sneakers that bring out your inner Goddess then lace up.
They only want one thing.
Sure, some guys just want sex. Some girls just want sex. Some guys just want to get to know you first. Some guys don't want sex at all. Get to know the person before you judge them.
You should wait 3 days after your date to text.
It's hard to believe this is still a thing but you often hear it given as "advice." Basically, if you are walking home from your date and you can't wipe the smile off your face because you had such an amazing night, then tell them! Stopping yourself from communicating for the sake of seeming too eager is just silly.
The third date is the sex date.
It might be. Or the first date might be the sex date. Or the sixth date. Or the ninth date... you get the picture. If you both want to do it before, then go for it. But if you're not feeling it, there is nothing wrong with taking it slow.
Your period gets in the way of dating.
Bodies are sexy all month long. Period.
If they like you, they will kiss you good night.
Problem:They haven't kissed you good night yet and you really want them to.
Reason: They're scared, too.
Solution: Kiss them 💋
The main thing to remember is dating is not a series of tests you pass or fail -- it's about being yourself.
