Do you like scary movies? It's your lucky day if you do. The iconic horror movies Scream 1, 2 and 3, are available to stream on Freeform until the end of October as part of 31 Nights of Halloween. And we've gone ahead and ranked every death by how shocking they were. Do you agree with our #1? We'll see...
23. John Milton (Lance Henriksen) — Scream 3
Considering most of us suspected Milton of being the murderer, his death came as quite the surprise. At the same time, he was an example of Hollywood power dynamics at their absolute worst. Not super sad.
22. Tyson Fox (Deon Richmond) — Scream 3
Another red herring from Scream 3 — especially as he was mysteriously absent when Jennifer's house exploded — but this altercation with Ghostface proved he couldn't be more innocent.
21. Debbie Loomis (Laurie Metcalf) — Scream 2
A mother's love knows no bounds. Debbie somehow came up with a revenge scheme against Sidney despite the fact that her abandonment of Billy contributed to him becoming the serial killer who tried to kill our girl in the first place. Pretty warped logic. What wasn't as warped? Her death at the end.
20. Steven Stone (Patrick Warburton) — Scream 3
A bodyguard with a reputation for keeping celebrities safe (including Posh Spice) deserved better than dying by knife fight with Ghostface in Dewey's trailer.
19. The detectives protecting Sidney — Scream 2
The one time Sidney was surrounded by trained professionals and we thought she might actually be safe, Ghostface still got the upper hand. We may not know these brave men's names, but they'll always be in our hearts. But in all honesty, we knew they didn't stand a chance.
18. Angelina Tyler (Emily Mortimer) — Scream 3
The woman playing Sidney in Stab 3 seemed all sweet and innocent — until the chips were down and she abandoned the group to save herself. Fear really does bring out the worst in all of us.
17. Kenny Jones (W. Earl Brown) — Scream
Whether he was really dedicated to his job or just afraid of Gale Weathers, he died in the line of duty. Kenny's death is also the reason Joel survived in Scream 2, remembering what happened to the last guy who followed Gale in search of a story.
16. Sarah Darling (Jenny McCarthy) — Scream 3
Sarah was just an adult woman sick of playing teenage characters. Her screentime was limited, as she was the second Stab 3 cast member to get killed off.
15. Hallie McDaniel (Elise Neal) — Scream 2
Sidney's second BFF to bite the dust. Hallie literally climbed over Ghostface to get away, but Sidney just had to go back to the car to find out who was under the mask.
14. Mickey Altieri (Timothy Olyphant) — Scream 2
Listen, a college education is just too expensive for the average person. Some of us have to hire ourselves out as a serial killer to the highest bidder. That's life.
13. Roman Bridger (Scott Foley) — Scream 3
Another killer that we should have seen coming — a creepy guy with an intricate knowledge of horror movies. Roman fooled us all by purposefully sabotaging his own movie and hiding his actual connection to Sidney. We won't spoil THAT for you at least.
12. Derek Feldman (Jerry O'Connell) — Scream 2
Sidney finally found herself a genuine guy but was too scarred by her previous relationship to trust him — even after his incredible cafeteria performance. Nice guys really do finish last.
11. Principal Arthur Himbry (Henry Winkler) — Scream
Sidney's biggest defender in the first Scream movie had a strict no-bullying or harassment policy and we loved him for it. Sadly, the tough talk didn't save him from being murdered by high schoolers.
10. Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard) — Scream
He was a girlfriend-murdering psychopath who was hardly a criminal mastermind. While Billy was the expert manipulator, that doesn't let Stu off the hook.
9. Tom Prinze (Matt Keeslar) — Scream 3
Did we like him? No. Did he deserve to burn to a crisp in a fiery explosion? Also no. Tom ranks highly on this list because of how unusual it is for Scream characters to die by fire.
8. Cici Cooper (Sarah Michelle Gellar) — Scream 2
Cici's death ticked all the boxes for a dramatic end: the creepy phone call, attempts to contact the police, moment of safety, another phone call, game of cat and mouse through the sorority house, thrown off the balcony.
7. Jennifer Jolie (Parker Posey) — Scream 3
The Gale of Stab 3 almost made it to the end of Scream 3 before being killed by Ghostface while hidden from her would-be rescuers by a two-way mirror. We'll miss her sass.
6. Randy Meeks (Jamie Kennedy) — Scream 2
Sidney's high school friend survived the first movie (thanks to his keen observation of horror movie tropes), only to be caught unaware by Ghostface in the sequel. We should have known when it comes to Ghostface, there are ultimately no rules.
5. Cotton Weary (Liev Schreiber) — Scream 3
Having made it through the first two movies, his death in the opening scenes of Scream 3 got us. Shout out to his girlfriend who died thinking Cotton was trying to kill her as part of a sexy role-playing game.
4. Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich) — Scream
It seemed every few minutes Billy was a suspect in Scream ... and then he wasn't. And much like our suspicions of him as the killer, he was dead then he wasn't. Dead and then he wasn't. And, finally thanks to Sidney, actually dead. For all those resurrections, we put him at #4.
3. Maureen Evans (Jada Pinkett Smith) — Scream 2
Maureen probably had one of the most dramatic deaths, considering it happened in front of hundreds of eyewitnesses who thought it was some kind of premiere stunt. She also never found out that her boyfriend had been killed in the men's bathroom just moments before.
2. Tatum Riley (Rose McGowan) — Scream
We all freaked out watching her stand up to Ghostface, but it turned out she was right — the killer was one of her friends. Her unusual death by garage door was particularly gruesome, giving her the #2 spot in our countdown.
1. Casey Becker (Drew Barrymore) — Scream
Technically not the first death of the franchise (honorable mention to her boyfriend, Steve) but definitely the most memorable. The scene was super intense, with her parents arriving home and hearing her on the phone but not being able to help her. Plus, no one ever thought Drew Barrymore would die in the opening scene. We are still shook.
