Is it even possible to crown just one witch as the Ultimate Halloween Queen? We've managed to narrow it down to ten badass witches, but now we need your help. Vote below to crown your queen and don't forget to consult the ghoulish selection of movies available as part of 31 Nights of Halloween.
1. Alexandra, Jane, and Sukie
(The Witches of Eastwick)
This legendary trio of bad witches featuring Cher, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Susan Sarandon earned their place in witchy history after winning a pitched battle with ... that guy. We're totally spacing on his name. The red dude with the horns? Kind of looks like Jack Nicholson? 😈? Whoever he was, if that doesn't earn your vote for the Ultimate Halloween Queen(s) then you're a real Daryl Van Horne.
2. Morticia Addams (The Addams Family)
Played flawlessly by the legendary Anjelica Huston, this practitioner of the infernal arts balances the pressures of motherhood with her life-long passions of dancing, poisons, and taxidermy. So, if you've ever felt like you need more time to seek out the dark forces and join their hellish crusade, this titan of Halloween witchiness is the queen for you.
3. The Sanderson Sisters (Hocus Pocus)
So, you've managed to light the Black Flame Candle, have you? In which case, the nastiest witches this side of Salem are back on the scene. And they might just be thrice as mean as any witch on this list. Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker absolutely nailed it as this iconic villainous trio, which means they automatically get your vote for the Ultimate Halloween Queen(s), right? Or do you need to watch the 25th Anniversary Halloween Bash to help persuade you?
4. Wednesday Addams (The Addams Family)
Sure, our dear Wednesday is technically no more than a witch-in-training, but what she lacks in experience she more than makes up for in cruel intent. Christina Ricci's depiction of the maligned youngster with only one thing on her mind (homicide) became the voice of a new generation of sassy, sharp-tongued witches. So, vote Wednesday ... or else.
5. Maleficent (Maleficent)
While it's true that our dear (not) green meanie is more of a fairy than a witch, Angelina Jolie's electrifying performance as this iconic Disney villain on a whirlwind tour of wrath and revenge certainly qualifies her for queenly candidacy. Also, you've seen her fall vibes, right? Talk about witchin'. We don't need to warn you what might happen if you don't vote Maleficent as the Ultimate Halloween Queen, so please make your choice wisely.
6. Sally (The Nightmare Before Christmas)
She doesn't have a pointy black hat, but she sure makes a lot of potions. Besides, how do you think this ragdoll would keep herself together without magic? Good needlework isn't a miracle worker. This would-be witch isn't exactly the double, double toil and trouble kind, but if you'd prefer the Ultimate Halloween Queen to come equipped with a big heart and fully detachable limbs, this is your witch.
7. Roz (Disney•Pixar's Monsters, Inc.)
You might be thinking — Wait a minute. There's no way that Roz from Disney•Pixar's Monsters, Inc. is a witch, right? But how else can she see where that great, green goofball (Mike Wazowski) is at all times? She's always watching him, remember? Check and mate. Vote for Roz.
8. Madame Leota (The Haunted Mansion)
A strange and bewildering witch, she channels the spirits with merely a twitch. Her life is a mystery, she abandoned her history— Okay, you get the picture. This disembodied, rhyming enchantress more than deserves her place atop the throne of the Ultimate Halloween Queen ... although she might need a booster seat. Actually, better make that four booster seats. Vote for Leota and get ahead of the game.
9. Angelique Bouchard (Dark Shadows)
Never before has there been such a deliciously vile, wonderfully cruel, beautifully sadistic witch as Eva Green's Angelique Bouchard. You have to be a stone cold witch to straight up bury bae in an eternal waking grave and curse their family for 196 years. If you like your coffee how you like your Halloween Queens — bitter and dark — then Angelique is the Ultimate Queen for you.
10. Claire Wheeler (Disney•Pixar's Monsters University)
Giving monster goths a bad name (in a good way) since 2013, Claire embodies the true essence of everything witches should be — cold, distant, and brooding. Also, did we happen to mention she's voiced by Aubrey Plaza? So, go ahead. Vote for Claire.
