Amy cleans up after her mess.
Amy cleans the last of the blood off her face. We see a flashback to her killing Krissy and Deb. Back in the present, she fixes her hair and smiles into the mirror. She looks like the Amy we knew right back at the start of camp. Outside, Jessie, Alex and Sykes are waiting for her. Jessie watches over Joel’s videos and tells the boys that he managed to get nearly everything on film. The Tall Man’s piano tune begins to play and Jessie claims that Joel must have left his camera on by accident. Sykes asks Jessie if she is going to go to Northwestern in the fall, but Jessie cannot see that happening because of her impending court date. Sykes tells her that she should turn her mom in as school is where she belongs, but Jessie tells him that she couldn’t do that. Amy joins them and says that she’s really going to miss the camp. Sykes notices the wax cylinder that contains the Tall Man’s hymn in the trunk of his car and is annoyed because it would have been useful in helping destroy Malphas.
The "innocent" shows her true colors!
The group are driving away from camp when Sykes’ car breaks down. They get out to investigate and Sykes is confused because he has a new battery and a full tank of gas. Amy tells them that they are stuck because of Holyoke. As she goes on to say that Holyoke left the last piece of his soul inside Jessie, her eyes go dark, revealing that Malphas it still inside her. Alex tells Amy that they saved her, but Amy says that she wanted Malphas. Jessie suddenly realizes that Amy was never who she said she was and Amy agrees, reminding her that you can be whoever you want to be at camp. Jessie tries to run, but is knocked back by an invisible force. Amy tells her that since Jessie has the light, and she has Malphas, only one of them will be able to leave the camp alive. The spirits of Joel and Cricket then appear, seemingly controlled by Amy/Malphas, and Jessie, Alex and Sykes run from them.
Nothing happens by accident!
Sykes sees his dad by Lake Stillwater and goes over to him. His dad tells him that nothing happens by accident before disappearing. Sykes wakes up in Heelan’s car and finds that he was only dreaming. It is the day before the counselors are due to arrive at Camp Stillwater so Heelan and Sykes are on their way to speak to Deb. Sykes tells Heelan about his dream and Heelan says that it’s understandable that his father is on his mind since he is returning to camp for the first time since he died. Back in the present, Jessie, Sykes and Alex hide in one of the cabins, blocking the door with a bunk. Jessie is freaking out about what could happen if Amy kills her and brings the power of the lake out into the world when blood drips onto Alex. They look up to discover Krissy’s body in the rafters. Retreating in fear, Jessie finds Deb’s body. Amy suddenly bursts through the cabin window and the trio run out of the cabin.
It's not over!
Drew and Blair drop the campers off with their parents. They are saying how happy they are that everything is over when Anton tells them that it isn’t over and that they should go back to the camp. Meanwhile, Jessie, Alex and Sykes are still running from Amy when Sykes comes to a halt. He tells Jessie that she will need to go on without him since a shard of glass is wedged in his stomach. Distraught, Jessie tells him that she doesn’t want to leave him, but Sykes tells her that she doesn’t have a choice – if she dies, everyone dies. Sykes promises to meet up with her later. Alex sees Amy approaching and warns the other two. Jessie kisses Sykes before leaving with Alex. As Amy approaches Sykes, he takes out his gun. Jessie and Alex hear gunshots as they run away.
In a flashback, we see Blair cleaning the word ‘homo’ off his car when Cricket arrives. He tells her that it must have been kids at school who vandalized his car. To cheer him up, Cricket gives him his favorite peanut butter cups and reminds him that they will be leaving school soon. She goes on to ask him if they are still going to go on a road trip after school and Blair tells her that he wouldn’t miss it. Back in the present, Blair tries to call the others at camp, but cannot get through. Drew says that they must be in trouble and so tells Blair to call the cops.
Alex tells Jessie that they can’t keep running around all day and so they stop. Jessie says that they should go back to the Tall Man’s cabin for the purified water – that they used it to beat Malphas once before and that they can use it again. Just as they are about to leave, Jessie hears her name being called. Following the sound, they find Blotter’s head hanging from a tether ball pole. Blotter tells them that they are going to die and bursts into manic laughter. Amy’s voice comes over the intercom and she tells them that tonight’s activity is Capture The Flag and that Jessie is the flag. Later, the cops arrive at Camp Stillwater and find Amy crying by the lake. When the cops go over to her, Amy tells them that everyone is dead.
The water has been tainted!
Jessie and Alex arrive in the Tall Man’s cabin and go over to the purified water, but find that it has been tainted. They realize that opening the door before they finished the purification would have tainted it and that Amy just wanted them to think that it was pure so she could escape. Amy comes over the intercom once more, but uses the cop’s voice instead of her own. In that voice, she tells them that the cops are here to help and so Jessie and Alex make their way towards the entrance of the camp. Once they arrive, however, Amy is the only person to be found. They discover that Amy killed all the cops and so they run!
Who's the weak one?
In a flashback, we see Alex’s mom looking through his suitcase of clothes. Alex comes into the room and his mom accuses him of stealing the clothes. Alex tells her that he only stole the clothes because the drycleaner destroyed his father’s American dream. He tells her that he took his grandfather’s advice – he saw something he wanted and he took it. He goes on to call his father weak since the drycleaner worked him into the ground and vows that when he returns to camp that summer, everyone will think he is strong and successful. His mom slaps Alex for calling his father weak and tells him that he is the weak one.
Two down and one to go!
Back at camp, Alex and Jessie are still running from Amy. Alex says they should hide, but Jessie comes up with another plan and tells Alex to follow her. Upon turning around they spot Amy. The spirit of Joel along with the headless Blotter appear, surrounding Jessie and Alex. Alex tells Jessie to run and gives her a message to pass on to his mom. Jessie runs and Alex takes out his penknife. Amy goes towards Alex and tells him in his mom’s voice that he is weak. Alex tells her that he is not weak before Amy strikes him with the axe and kills him. Amy says, “two down and one to go” before moving on.
Jessie gets her own back!
In a flashback, we see Jessie searching through her mom’s closet as she packs for camp. Her mom and her boyfriend come into the room and her mom asks her why she is taking her clothes. Jessie shows her mom her acceptance letter to Northwestern, and tells her that even if she took all the clothes she owned, they still wouldn’t be even. She reminds her mom of her advice – that if she wanted to get ahead she should change her look and provocatively asks her mom’s boyfriend if he likes the way she is dressed. Her mom interrupts and asks her why she is going to camp when her old job paid better money and Jessie replies that it is to get away from her. Jessie asks her mom’s boyfriend for a ride to camp and they leave.
Back at camp, Jessie hides from Amy in the shower block. Amy arrives and uses her axe to slice through the shower curtains. When she doesn’t find Jessie in any of the showers she begins to kick down the cubicle doors to the toilets. Jessie hides in a cubicle, but when Amy kicks down the door to the cubicle that Jessie is in, she is no longer there. Amy hears a noise outside and runs towards it. We see Jessie hiding in the rafters of the shower block, but after Amy leaves she follows suit. Back outside, Sykes catches up with Jessie and she is super relieved to see him. Blair and Drew arrive and tell Jessie that Amy is at Cabin Row and that they don’t have much time until she figures out what is going on. Jessie tells them that she’s got a plan, but that she won’t be able to carry it out alone.
Amy is trapped.
Amy hears Jessie calling for her and moves towards the sound. She enters one of the cabins and finds Jessie there waiting for her. Amy goes towards Jessie and tries to strike her with the axe, but is blocked by an invisible force. Drew and Blair then appear behind her. Drew closes the door to the cabin while Blair finishes off the circle of purified water that surrounds Amy, entrapping her. Amy is confused as she thought the water was tainted, but Jessie tells her that it was only the water in the vat that was tainted – the water in the bottle was still pure. Extremely angry, Amy tries to strike Blair with the axe, but is blocked once again.
Joel got it all!
Sykes arrives in the Tall Man’s cabin with the wax cylinder that contains the Tall Man’s hymn. He loads it into the record player and tries to play it through the radio to Jessie, but it doesn’t work. Back in the other cabin, Amy tells everyone that she destroyed it. The spirits of Joel, Deb and Cricket break into the cabin when Sykes – still in the Tall Man’s cabin – suddenly remembers that Joel caught the hymn on camera. Playing it through the radio, Amy and the spirits start to scream. Amy drops to the floor, writhing in pain and we see flickers of Malphas. Jessie gets a hold of the axe and strikes Amy dead. Malphas, in the form of a strange ooze, goes into the canteen and gets trapped.
A happy accident?
Sykes reunites with Jessie, Blair and Drew outside and tells them that Joel must have kept his camera on while Holyoke played the, yet to be tainted, piano in his cabin. Drew calls it a “happy accident” but Sykes, remembering his father’s words, tells them that nothing happens by accident. They watch as the spirits of Blotter, Cricket, Joel, Deb and Alex make their way into the lake and disappear. Later, as they are leaving camp, Sykes suddenly stops and tells Jessie he won’t be able to leave with her. Jessie doesn’t understand and so Sykes leads her to where she left him the night before and shows her his dead body. Sykes tells her that the only reason he’s still there is because of her – that he felt the same light that Holyoke gave to her when she kissed him. They share an extremely emotional kiss goodbye.
Jessie joins Blair and Drew and they leave camp together, linking arms. Sykes sees his father’s spirit in the lake and walks towards him. They embrace and disappear into the light. Sykes is now the new protector of the lake. Later, we see Jessie heading to her dorm room at Northwestern. She sorts through her mail and finds a postcard from Blair and Drew in Seattle. Meanwhile, we see Blair and Drew kiss and make their way into a Bowie concert. Back at Camp Stillwater, we find that it has been put up for sale.
