Someone is watching Cricket!
Cricket is having a shower when she hears a sound coming from outside. She goes to check it out, but there is no sign of anyone nearby. Still spooked, she runs back to her cabin and we see masked figures watching her from the bushes.
We meet the young Carolina!
In a flashback, we see Cricket and her mother eating pancakes while discussing the Satanists. A news reporter is talking about people who believe in demons. Appalled, Cricket's mother tells a story of a teenage Satanist while serving breakfast to her daughter. Their neighbor arrives with some mail but declines to stay for breakfast. Cricket notices her neighbor's slender figure self-consciously. However, Cricket's dad points out that she is beautiful, kind and funny so it doesn't matter what she looks like. Cricket is not entirely convinced.
Blair knows his friend pretty well!
Cricket writes some more graffiti about herself on the wall when Blair interrupts. He makes fun of her and suggests that she doesn't even care about Alex, but sees him as a trophy. Cricket doesn't disagree. Meanwhile, the counselors are talking about their upcoming night off. Alex suggests they all go to the local bar, The Plaza, but Jessie doesn't think it would be Amy's kind of place. Amy is still angry at Alex for getting Blotter fired. He defends himself but she doesn't buy it. Joel arrives and tells the others that Blair, Jessie and Drew are scheduled to stay at camp with him to supervise movie night. Blair is happy to stay with Drew, while Cricket is excited at the thought of a night out with Alex.
"You want a mix-tape."
In another flashback, Blair catches Cricket writing graffiti about herself in their high school bathroom for the first time. He accuses her of lying about her level of experience and suggests that Cricket wants romance, not just sex. Back in the present day, Cricket sees a message on the wall written in response to hers. It says "Tomorrow Noon". She asks Blair if he wrote it, but he says no. She believes that Alex must have done it. In the meantime, Cricket confiscates an annoying "Hear 'n Speak" toy from a camper.
Deputy Skyes is investigating!
Sykes sits at the bar in The Plaza looking at the photos and map from 1871 he found in Dave's cabin. Sheriff Heelan asks him about the case. Sykes is spooked by what Anton said about someone dying, but the Sheriff doesn't take the threat seriously. He points out that all of this information is from one hundred years ago. However, Sykes believes that there are people still engaged in the occult today.
Cricket's having nightmares!
Cricket is in the woods walking towards a bonfire. As she reaches it she sees figures in wooden masks on either side of her. They threaten her by holding a knife to her throat. Cricket tries to run but her boots are stuck in the mud. She breaks free and runs away from the masked figures. She trips and one of her pursuers looms over her, coming closer and closer. Suddenly, Cricket wakes up in her bed—the whole thing was just a nightmare.
Some of the counselors are seeing things...
Amy notices Cricket staring into space while Jessie and Amy play tether-ball. Cricket tells Amy about her dream and Amy tells her that they've both been seeing things since they've been at Camp Stillwater. Meanwhile, Sykes shows up at camp and talks to Jessie and Amy about the movie night. Jessie is jealous of the attention he pays to Amy. In her cabin, Cricket is getting into a bikini when she hears another noise outside. She finds a hole in her cabin wall through which some younger campers are watching her change. While she complains about this to Blair, he asks her about her date with Alex. She leaves to meet him by the lake.
Flashback to Cricket meeting Travis!
A younger Cricket is standing in the corner of a basement party when Blair offers her some refreshments. She refuses, as she's trying to lose weight in preparation for summer camp. They decide to leave the party, but are stopped by Travis along the way. He offers Cricket a tour of his house, but it's obvious that he has seen Cricket's graffiti and is after something else entirely. Blair warns her not to go but Cricket follows Travis upstairs. Blair leaves alone and disappointed.
What does this symbol mean?
Deputy Sykes arrives at an old cabin carrying the map with the drawing of the demonic beast on it. Inside, he looks at the piano and notices a symbol on one of the keys—a symbol that matches the one on the spine of a Bible that the Tall Man is holding in one of his pictures. Sykes hears a sound outside and peeks out the window. Although he can't see anything, we see someone hiding in amongst the trees.
Cricket is disappointed in love!
Alex is not at the lake when Cricket arrives, but Damon and his friends drop by. He tries to flirt with her, but is interrupted when Deputy Sykes walks up. Sykes gets rid of the locals and checks to make sure that Cricket is okay. In a flashback, we see Cricket waiting for Travis by her locker. When he makes a joke about her to his friends and walks right past her in the school hallway, Cricket bursts into tears. Even though he had told her not to go with Travis, Blair comforts Cricket. Back in the present, Blair is comforting her again as she admits that Alex did not meet her by the lake. He suggests she gets dressed up and go to The Plaza anyway. Jessie interrupts them and asks Cricket for a favor.
Someone is trying to warn Cricket!
Joel and Deb discuss which movie to show the kids that night. Joel is flirting with Deb and although she seems to be flattered by the attention she isn't encouraging it. Cricket interrupts them to tell Deb that Jessie just heard her grandma has died. She then gets ready for a night out by putting on a dress and putting her hair up in a scrunchie. She thinks some of the campers are spying on her again when she hears a noise, but it turns out to be the "Hear 'n Speak" she confiscated earlier. It says "Don't" repeatedly, and she thinks she sees a masked figure outside. Cricket decides she is imagining things and leaves the cabin before she can hear the complete message—"Don't go".
Damon is interested in Cricket!
The counselors are waiting to leave for The Plaza. Alex tries to talk to Amy, but she ignores him. Deb arrives to ask Amy if she would cover for Jessie at movie night due to her grandma dying, and Amy agrees. Once the other three counselors leave the cabin, Cricket and Jessie congratulate each other that their bogus "grandma died" story worked to get Jessie out of movie night. At The Plaza, Deputy Sykes is at the bar poring over the clues he has uncovered. Jessie walks over and flirts with him while Cricket tries to get closer to Alex. Alex doesn't seem interested, but Damon approaches her and offers to buy her a drink. She initially turns him down, but Jessie encourages her to use Damon to make Alex jealous.
It's time for movie night!
Jessie and Sykes go off to play foosball while Damon makes headway with Cricket. He offers her a ride in his Firebird. He compliments her hair and asks if he can keep her scrunchie when she takes it off. Alex watches as the two of them head off into the night for a quick spin. Damon's friends watch them too. Meanwhile, Amy and Joel are setting up the movie for the campers. We find out that Amy knows Jessie was lying about her grandma, but still was willing to do her a favor.
Cricket is in serious danger!
Cricket sits in Damon's car staring out the window. In a flashback, we see her walking home from school with Blair. She hears a noise and goes to look upstairs. She finds her dad in his bedroom with their attractive neighbor. They both are scrambling to put their clothes back on. Cricket is distraught and runs away crying as her father begs her not to tell her mother. Back in the present, Cricket notices that Damon is driving very fast. The glove compartment springs open and Cricket sees a knife and a red sharpie. She figures out that Damon is the one who left the note for her on the wall at camp. She tries to threaten him with the knife and get him to stop the car, but Damon just laughs. So Cricket punches him, and the car goes swerving into a ditch.
Alex is the knight in shining armor!
Cricket stumbles out of the car as a police cruiser arrives on the scene. Alex jumps out of the cruiser with Deputy Sykes and Jessie. They explain that Alex was worried about Cricket so they followed her. Damon crudely explains that Cricket was "asking for it"—a bridge too far for Alex, who leaps to Cricket's defense and clocks Damon. Sykes pulls Alex off him as Damon lies bleeding on the ground. Jessie and Cricket are shaken by the whole experience.
Romance is blossoming at Camp Stillwater!
Blair and Drew walk through the woods as Blair talks about movie night. Drew silences Blair, and then kisses him . Meanwhile, Jessie talks to Sykes about how guilty she feels for leaving Cricket alone with Damon. He reassures her that she isn't to blame. She leads him to a bench where the words "Townie + Braces" are carved inside a heart. They talk about how they shared their first kiss at camp. Their faces inch closer together and it seems as though they are about to kiss when, much to Jessie's disappointment, Sykes stops abruptly and leaves.
Things are getting hot and heavy in Alex's cabin!
Cricket drinks beer with Alex in his cabin. The two start making out and they accidentally roll off the bed. While they're on the floor Cricket spots a mix tape and thinks Alex has made it for her. He tells her it was actually made by Blotter. We flashback to the moment when Cricket tells her mother about her father's cheating. Cricket is shocked when her mom admits that she already knew. She suggests that women like herself and Cricket, because of their appearances, sometimes have to settle. Back with Alex, Cricket pushes him away and leaves with the mix tape.
Cricket wants the mix tape!
Cricket sits on the dock when Blair comes to tell her what a great night he had with Drew. She shows him the mix tape Blotter made her and admits that's what she wants after all. As they head back into camp we see two masked figures watching them from behind the trees.
Deputy Sykes finds another clue!
The masked figures walk towards the lake and throw Cricket's boots into the water. As we watch the boots sink down to the bottom they come to rest beside a severed hand holding a familiar looking bottle. Meanwhile, Amy brings Jessie a plate of cookies and sympathizes with her about the loss of her grandma. Jessie seems to feel guilty for lying, but we know Amy is tricking her. At The Plaza, Sheriff Heelan tells Deputy Sykes that they had to release Damon. Sykes is more focused on a soldier's journal from 1871. It mentions Holyoke and the fact that the villagers burned down his cabin, yet Sykes insists that the cabin still stands in the woods. He tells Heelan that the events in the soldier's journal mirror the events taking place at the camp right now. Heelan does not seem convinced.
Deb has a secret of her own!
Joel enters Deb's cabin looking for her and notices an old, rusty box. When he asks Deb about it she says she keeps it as a reminder to always follow your dreams. As she puts the box away, Joel notices a mask hanging in her armoire and we see it is the same one that Cricket saw in her dream. Damon arrives at Holyoke's old cabin in the woods and greets his masked friends—all wearing the same style mask Deb has. They take out a bloody bag and sit down at a wooden chest.
An ancient ritual is being performed...
Cricket plays Blotter's mix tape as she takes out her bikini. All the campers are playing volleyball while Joel films. Blair arrives with Cricket and she takes off her t-shirt to show off her bikini. Alex looks very impressed. Back at the cabin the masked figures wrap Cricket's scrunchie around the bloody bag containing the deer heart and place it at one point of a pentagram they've drawn in chalk. They tell the spirits that they have found "her" and stab the heart with a knife. At camp, Cricket hits the volleyball into the lake and Amy wades out after it.
What is happening to Amy?
As she reaches the ball, Amy sees that the water around her is turning blood red and bubbling. She sees a demonic face in the water and begins to back away. Storm clouds roll in as the weather shifts suddenly. The counselors gather the campers and send them indoors. Cricket runs out to see Amy is still in the water. Damon and his friends watch in confusion—they were expecting to find Cricket out in the lake, not Amy. A bolt of lightning strikes Amy, who falls into the water unconscious, as thunder claps and the storm erupts. Damon realizes his mistake, smiles and tells his friends that they were wrong about Cricket—it's Amy they need...
