Back from the dead?!
In the Brew, Emily asks Aria if everything is all right since she didn’t hear from her after she went to Ezra’s, but Aria says that everything is fine and does not mention the proposal. Spencer and Hanna join them. Hanna believes that Elliott/Archer must be alive since he was spotted in a rental car. Spencer assures her that he is dead, but says that someone could be continuing the fake trail from where they left off. They wonder who could be helping them cover up his death, and if it is A.D., what the consequences will be.
The Liars are sorry.
Alison turns up at The Brew wearing the same red jacket that the Liars gave to A.D. When she leaves, Spencer follows and tells her that they had no choice but to turn her in, but Alison is not sure what to believe. She then gets a phone call from Marco Furey telling her that he is at her house with an update. Spencer goes back to her house as well, worried that Mary Drake could be A.D. Meanwhile, Emily leaves the Brew in order to keep tabs on Jenna. Aria goes with her and has an awkward encounter with Ezra.
The cops suspect a fake trail!
Marco tells Alison about Elliott's fake identity and that his real name is Archer Dunhill. Marco goes on to say that he believes the car rental and train ticket were used to create a fake trail and that Elliott/Archer is actually a lot closer to home. When Marco leaves, Spencer follows him outside in order to clear the air between them. Marco asks her if she thinks Alison could be keeping anything back, but Spencer assures him that Alison is telling him everything she knows.
A phone call from beyond the grave?!
Hanna is about to leave The Brew to go find Aria when Elliott/Archer’s burner phone starts ringing. She answers it and hears, “next time you bury someone, make sure they’re dead.” Hysterical, Hanna meets with Aria and tells her that the voice sounded just like Elliott/Archer’s. Aria assures her that he cannot be alive and says that it’s probably Jenna or Mary Drake trying to torment them, but Hanna runs off. Aria then gets a call from Ezra, but she declines the call in order to run after Hanna and stop her from going to the cops.
Back to the Lost Woods Resort!
Spencer is on her way to the Lost Woods Resort to see if she can find Elliott/Archer’s credit card information and link it to Mary Drake, but when she arrives, she finds that Mary Drake is already there! Spencer pretends that she came to the resort looking for Elliott/Archer. Mary Drake tells her that she believes that he is really after her because she broke ranks with him and is terrified about what he might do.
Secrets are shared!
Aria finds Hanna sitting on the steps to the Rosewood Police Department, but Hanna tells her that she hasn't actually been into the station. Aria says she has spoken to Spencer who is starting to believe Mary Drake’s story, leaving Jenna as their main suspect. She then goes on to tell her about Ezra's proposal and how the thought that she could go to prison is stopping her from accepting it. To persuade her, Hanna tells Aria that her and Jordan broke up because they weren’t meant for each other, but that Aria and Ezra are different. Across town, Caleb arrives back in Rosewood and speaks to Ezra. Caleb tells Ezra that he is confused about what is happening between him and Spencer.
At The Radley, Emily takes two drinks to Jenna’s room. Jenna does not know that Emily has brought them up, and while she plays her flute, Emily takes advantage of the opportunity to check her computer. Opening the screen, she finds a page about car rental in Baltimore. She also finds a folder named, ‘Charlotte DiLaurentis,’ but before she can investigate further, Sara comes into the room and alerts Jenna to Emily's presence. Emily asks Jenna if she has been the one threatening them and Jenna goes on to tell Emily that Charlotte was her friend.
Charlotte desperately wanted to meet her birth mom.
Through a flashback, we learn that Jenna was the one who secured Elliott/Archer’s fake identity and got him into Welby in order to try and help get Charlotte released. Jenna reveals that she was going to find Charlotte’s birth mother for her. She then tells Emily that when she heard about Charlotte’s murder she tried to phone Elliott/Archer and was startled to find the Liars had his phone. She says that she believes they have something to do with his disappearance and then asks Emily to leave. Sara follows Emily out of the room and tries to warn her to stay away, but before she can say anything more, Jenna calls her back in.
So much emotion!
Caleb tells Spencer that she was right about him being confused about his feelings. Upset, Spencer tells him that she does not regret their time together because he helped her open her heart to love again after Toby. They share a very emotional goodbye. Meanwhile, Aria arrives at Ezra’s apartment and says that she wants to marry him, but that there’s something she needs to tell him that might make him regret ever asking her in the first place. They sit down to talk. At Alison’s, Emily apologizes to Alison about believing she killed Charlotte, but Alison tells her that she knows how sorry she is. When Emily leaves, we see that the police officer who is keeping watch outside is wearing a mask!
Hanna and Spencer are on a playground when Hanna comes clean about breaking up with Jordan. Spencer thinks that she should tell Caleb, but Hanna is not so sure. She decides to tell Spencer about the dream she had while captured by A.D. when Archer’s burner phone begins to ring. They hear, “first you turn her in, then you leave her alone… stupid bitches” in the same voice as before. Terrified, Hanna phones Alison to warn her that A.D. could be on their way to her and suggests telling the police officer to stay close. Once the officer is inside, Alison tells Spencer that she should be safe, but when she hangs up, the officer has disappeared. She goes into her bedroom to look for him and sees, “Honey I’m home” written on the wall. Out of nowhere, she is attacked, but the sound of police sirens scares her assailant off. The police investigate the scene while Spencer and Hanna comfort a shaky Alison.
Aria says YES!
After a phone call from Spencer, Aria tells Ezra that Alison is okay. Suddenly, Ezra approaches Aria and gets down on one knee – he proposes again and this time Aria says YES! At The Radley, Sara is hastily packing a bag when there is a knock at the door. We do not see who it is, but Sara looks terrified. Later, a maid finds Sara dead in the bathtub of her hotel room! Hanna and Spencer decide to return to the place where they buried Elliott/Archer in order to make sure he is dead. They begin to dig and soon uncover his dead body where they left it. In an unknown place, we see the same person who attacked Alison watching Hanna and Spencer on film – they have been caught unearthing Elliott/Archer on camera!
