Clace need Simon's help!
Clary and Jace explain to Simon that Magnus has tracked down the owner of the Book of the White. It belongs to Camille, who is currently locked in a coffin in the basement of the Hotel DuMort. They ask Simon for his help in gaining access to her. Simon agrees to set up a meeting with Raphael.
Maryse is not over the wedding drama!
Ale's parents are still very angry about the wedding being cancelled. Maryse is furious that Alec kissed a warlock, particularly Magnus, in front of all their Shadowhunter guests. Robert warns that Magnus has a reputation. And uses the word "lothario." (Please, team, bring this word back into common usage. It's spectacular.) Alec insists that he will get to know Magnus in his own time. He leaves to find Lydia and thank her for everything she has done for him.
Magnus asks how the talk went with his parents and Alec admits it was pretty bad. Alec worries that his parents will never forgive him but Magnus advises him not to underestimate parental love. Magnus asks if he regrets kissing him at the wedding, but Alec is still confused about everything. They agree to go on a first date, then start looking for Lydia. They find her in Robert's study unconscious on the floor. Magnus goes off to find help as Lydia manages to say the word "Hodge".
Hodge is caught on camera!
Alec, Jace, Izzy and Clary look through the video footage of the Institute. Clary suggests that Hodge might have been involved in Lydia's injury and stealing the Cup. Izzy refuses to believe that their friend could have done something like that. They see Hodge hit Lydia on the screen and Izzy is forced to admit the truth. Then they see Hodge using a ring to talk to Valentine and realize that he got the ring when he was "attacked" by the forsaken. They realize that they have to stop Hodge from giving Valentine the cup before he uses it to create an army.
Valentine has the Mortal Cup!
As Hodge climbs aboard a HUGE boat, he is greeted by Valentine. He offers his old master the Cup and expresses his pleasure to be outside for the first time in years. Valentine dips the Cup in blood then offers it to one of his henchmen. The man drinks from it and collapses. Then he stands back up and is able to hold a Seraph blade, proving that he has officially become a Shadowhunter.
Jace is a man on a mission.
Jace and Alec are preparing their weapons for battle when Clary interrupts them and tries to convince Jace not to go after Hodge. Jace blames himself for letting Valentine escape the last time they met, and is determined to capture Hodge. Clary is worried that Jace is letting his emotions cloud his judgement. Jace tells her to keep working on waking up Jocelyn and storms out! Alec suggests asking Magnus to track Hodge but Jace calls Luke, who is furious with himself for trusting Hodge. He tells his werewolf pack to find Hodge as soon as possible.
The traitor is betrayed!
Valentine marks his henchman with the Circle rune and tells him to find Clary and Jace. Hodge asks why he needs his children when they already have the Cup. Valentine explains that he doesn't want Hodge to join him as he is a traitor. Hodge is furious and accuses Valentine of lying to him. He believes the Clave will hunt him down if Valentine doesn't protect him. Valentine promises to destroy the Clave so that Hodge will be safe, but he doesn't want him in his army.
Raphael is not being as helpful as usual...
Simon brings Clary and Izzy to meet Raphael at the Hotel DuMort. They ask to speak to Camille but Raphael refuses. Simon tries to convince him to help them out but Raphael believes that Camille is too dangerous to be freed. He thinks she will make the Valentine situation more difficult. He offers to bring them Camille's belongings so that they can look for the book. Clary insists that Camille would not have left the book lying around but Raphael refuses to change his mind.
Jace has gone rogue!
Hodge is on the run when he spots a werewolf. As he tries to hide, Jace grabs him from behind. The two start to fight as Jace asks how Hodge could betray his family. Hodge accuses the Lightwoods of striking a deal where he got punished for crimes that they committed while in the Circle. He insists that he was a prisoner at the Institute. Jace knocks him to the ground and cuts his hand off with his seraph blade. He's about to strike the killing blow when Alec pushes him out of the way. He tells Jace to stop while Luke kneels beside Hodge and explains that he'll be going to prison. Jace steals Hodge's magic ring and uses it to communicate with Valentine. He tells his father that he will be coming after him.
Simon is sneaking around the Hotel!
Raphael and Izzy are looking through Camille's possessions when the vampire notices that Clary and Simon are missing. He realizes this was a distraction technique. Izzy tries to use her whip to tie him up but he runs up the stairs. Meanwhile, Simon is pushing a coffin through the hotel. Another vampire tries to stop him but Simon uses his position as Raphael's advisor to explain his actions. Then he pushes the coffin down to the basement. He opens the lid and lets Clary out. They have brought pliers to free Camille from her coffin prison.
Where are Jace and Hodge?
Luke calls his colleagues at the police station to get help transporting Hodge back to the Institute. Alec explains that he's worried about Jace and believes his parabatai has snapped and is letting himself be manipulated by his father. Luke points out that Valentine acted in a similar way when he was younger but Alec defends his friend. Suddenly they notice that Jace and Hodge have disappeared.
Camille is back in the game!
Simon and Clary open the coffin where Camille has been imprisoned. She looks dead or asleep but suddenly jumps up with her fangs out. Clary immediately holds her seraph blade to Camille's throat to threaten her. Camille says that she was expecting Simon to free her as she is his sire. They explain that they need the Book of the White, but she doesn't recognize the name. The discover that she used to supply antiquities to Dot for Jocelyn's antique store. Camille believes that the book must be in her apartment and she is willing to bring them there if they can get her out of the Hotel DuMort.
Jace is looking for Valentine.
Alec calls Jace and tries to get him to bring Hodge back. Jace explains that he is going after Valentine and tells Alec to keep helping Clary find a way to wake up Jocelyn. Alec tries to convince his parabatai not to let Valentine control him in this way but Jace will not listen. He insists that his father raised him to be a killer and that he will teach Valentine to regret that. He hangs up on Alec and turns back to Hodge. He grabs Hodge's injured arm and threatens to kill him slowly if he doesn't tell him how to find Valentine.
Queen Izzy saves the day!
Simon, Clary and Camille are trying to sneak out of the hotel when Raphael and several of his vampires stop them. Raphael accuses Simon of betraying him and Clary of breaking the alliance. He threatens to kill Simon and Camille as the Clave cannot protect them from vampire law. At that moment, the wall explodes and Izzy walks in. The sunlight shining through the gap in the wall prevents Raphael and his minions from following the others as they leave. As they are escaping, Camille demands a "writ of transmutation" signed in Simon's blood. This would exonerate her from any blame regarding his transformation into a vampire. Simon agrees to sign it if she helps them.
Magnus and Camille are reunited.
Everyone arrives in Magnus' apartment to ask him to create the document that Camille wants Simon to sign. Magnus points out that it has been 138 years since he and Camille were together. She insists that they'll always be in each others lives. Clary pulls Simon aside and asks if he's sure that he wants to sign the document. Simon says that waking Jocelyn up is the most important thing. He thinks of her as a second mother. Clary realizes that everyone needs Jocelyn to wake up, not just her daughter.
Camille is getting in the way of Malec!
Magnus and Camille disagree about whether true love exists. Camille figures out that Magnus believes he has fallen in love and just as Alec and Izzy walk in the door, Camille kisses Magnus on the lips. Alec does not look happy but he focuses on the mission. Magnus explains that Camille is willing to trade the Book of the White for her freedom. Alec doesn't want to negotiate with a prisoner but they don't have much choice. Camille tells Magnus that she doesn't think he and Alec's relationship will last, especially considering Magnus is immortal while Alec is not. Izzy warns her to keep her mouth shut. Alec goes into the other room and tells Clary and Simon that Valentine has the Cup. He also explains that Jace has gone after him while Luke is trying to track him down. They decide to focus on finding the book. Simon refuses to sign Camille's contract until it is located.
Valentine's ship is gone!
Jace brings Hodge to the pier where Valentine's boat was docked but it has disappeared. Jace uses the ring to contact Valentine. He tries to convince him that he wants to join the Circle. Valentine doesn't believe him and implies that he will go after Jace's friends instead of fighting him directly. The minute Valentine ends the conversation Jace tries to call Clary to warn her, but she doesn't pick up.
Welcome to Camille's place!
The gang head to Camille's apartment in Simon's van. Meanwhile, Valentine's henchman watches them drive by and makes a call to his leader. At Camille's place, the gang are impressed by how many books she has. She says she has a lot of free time. She makes Simon sign the Writ of Transmutation and then admits that she doesn't know where the Book of the White is. She says that Dot must have hidden it without her knowledge. Camille leaves and the others start to search for the Book. Jace calls Clary to warn her that Valentine is on the way but she refuses to leave the apartment without the Book.
They found the Book of the White!
Clary and Simon are looking through Camille's book collection. They talk about any clues Jocelyn might have left them. Suddenly, Clary notices a cookbook that her mother used to own. She opens it and they see that one of the pages has a part of a bookmark in it. Bookmark of the white! When she lines up her bookmark with the other fragment they join together. The recipe for Chicken Cacciatore on that page blurs and transforms into a spell book. At that moment Izzy runs into the room and tells them Valentine has arrived.
Valentine and Jace have joined forces!?!
Valentine is looking for Jace. He threatens Clary and Simon jumps in front of her. Valentine directs his rage towards Simon but Izzy lashes out at him with her whip and distracts him. Jace appears as the Circle members capture Izzy, Simon, Alec and Magnus. Valentine tells Jace that he will kill the others if he tries to fight. Clary offers him the Book of the White if he'll let them all go but Valentine tells her to keep it. He wants her to wake up Jocelyn so that they can all join him eventually. Jace agrees to go with him if Valentine swears not to hurt his friends. Valentine agrees to the deal and tells his henchmen to let the others go. Clary tries to stop them but Jace follows Valentine through the portal and disappears. Alec won't let her follow them because if she goes into the portal without knowing the destination then she could end up stuck in limbo. Clary collapses crying in Alec's arms.
Jocelyn is finally awake!
Back at the Institute, Hodge is being taken away by members of the Clave. Clary explains to Simon that Jace believes he has been raised by Valentine to be evil. Simon assures her that Jace is strong and that they will save him. Also...Climon sparks? Meanwhile, Magnus is explaining to Alec that the feelings he once had for Camille are long gone. Alec points out that he is immortal and has watched people he loves die, but Magnus says that no one can predict the future. Luke arrives and leads them up to the room where they have moved Jocelyn. Magnus uses the Book of the White to perform a spell over Jocelyn. As it takes affect, Luke lifts her into his arms and she slowly awakens. She is happy to see him and then turns around to give Clary a hug. She tries to apologize for not telling her about the Shadow World but her daughter says they can talk about it another time.
Where is Jace?
Valentine is on his ship giving a speech. He tells the members of the Circle to join him and his son as they create a new breed of Shadowhunters. The other men cheer as he asks for their loyalty and Jace stands silently beside him. The boat continues to sail through the moonlit water towards an unknown destination.
