So, the craziest thing happened during the spring finale. The Clave got Clary to bring Valentine back to life so that they could question him about Lilith and, naturally, all hell broke loose. We can all agree that Valentine was a bad man who did a lot of bad things, but did anyone else kind of ... miss him? Okay fine, it was just us. But still, take a look at some of the reasons why and see if we can change your mind.
Look at the difference between the last time we saw Valentine and his return in the spring finale:
Death does not become him.
Iris was seriously predicting the future when she said this.
Truer words have never been spoken.
The minute Valentine said "Clarissa," we were on a trip down memory lane.
He's the only one who calls her that.
Long story short: Clary created a new rune just to bring him back from the dead.
Which reminded us how Valentine always manages to get involved in unique situations.
Remember when he swapped bodies with Magnus for a few days?
He really did not like being in a warlock body. Demon-blooded creatures are his pet peeve.
When Clary brought him back, Valentine hadn't changed a bit.
He was still using flattery to convince his children to trust him.
Really, is there anyone he hasn't called his
Poor little Jonathan will be upset to find out he's been replaced.
At the same time, he still didn't really care about his kids.
Just look at his reaction to Jonathan's death. Barely blinked.
But you have to admit ... he was a charismatic guy.
And he could give a mean speech when he needed to.
It was always kind of hard not to be convinced when he talked about wanting to change the world.
That's what made him so dangerous.
And we really missed his sassy one-liners.
His response when Clary accused him of working with Lilith was spot on.
He has always been the king of sarcasm.
Throwback to when he abducted Jace and then was surprised when he tried to escape.
You've got to admire how he refused to give up, even when it seemed like he was out of chances.
He just made new ones.
Although, we usually wanted him to give up - because he was trying to destroy the world.
And he used to keep escaping his prisons. So frustrating.
The important thing is that he's dead. Again.
Clary took care of it. Again.
Goodbye, Valentine. Gone and hopefully soon forgotten.
But we're still going to miss the owner of the world's most ironic mug.
