1. Just how human will Ryn become?
In the latest episode, Ryn was adamant that she is just as much a human as she is an animal - and we're totally on her side. She has become extremely attached to both Ben and Maddie, she's started eating regular human food (as well as the occasional raw fish), and it looks like she won't return to the ocean anytime soon. Will the land become her new home?
2. Will the truth about Sean's death come out?
Helen knew something was amiss, and Xander's mom is definitely suspicious. She couldn't understand how a fisherman with Sean's experience could get caught in a net and lost at sea. Xander almost came out with the truth at Sean's funeral as well! If it hadn't been for Ben stepping in, who knows what else he would have said ...
3. How are Helen and Ted related?
This was a big one, you guys. Helen's said she's "one of them", so does that mean there are merpeople in Ben's family? And is this why Helen has always been so upset about the Pownall's bloody history with merpeople?
4. Will Xander be able to forgive Ben?
Xander was furious when he found out Ben had been lying to him. He couldn't believe that even after a merman killed Sean, Ben still didn't tell him the truth. Ben was only doing what he thought was right, but it seems like Xander wants nothing more to do with him. Will their friendship survive this?
5. What exactly does Decker want with Elaine?
It's hard to know if his intentions are honorable. The results of his experiments so far have been amazing, but could he just be using Elaine to get to Ben? While we still haven't figured out if we can trust this guy, Ben is determined to put a stop to whatever he's planning.
6. Do Maddie and Xander have a history?
It certainly seems like they do. After Xander told Maddie that he loved her heart of gold, Maddie said, "That was a long time ago." This definitely means that they were together, right? How long was it for? And does Xander still have feelings for her?
7. How attached to Ryn is Ben?
Ben and Ryn had quite a rocky time in episode 8. Ben called Ryn an animal, which really hurt her feelings. But they made up. Ryn showed Ben that's she's learning (and wants to continue to learn) to be more human, then Ben asked her to sing to him again. They seem to be getting ever closer and we're not sure what this means.
8. Why have the other merpeople come ashore?
Have they come to take back Ryn? Do they mean war? Or do they want both? We can't imagine what will happen if Xander runs into the merman who killed his father. As he said himself: "He didn't deserve to die, not like this." Will history repeat itself? And what will that mean for Ryn?
