We love the trailer.
And that the show takes place in New York.
It's inspired by Cosmo.
The Bold Type gives us a glimpse behind-the-scenes of a major women's magazine. It takes its inspiration from the women of Cosmo, and shows us all the highs and lows of working in this dynamic yet challenging environment. From finding that first successful pitch to taking on the glass ceiling. And just like Cosmo, Scarlet is definitely not just about clothes and makeup.
The women of Scarlet are fierce.
As Scarlet's next generation, these three main ladies are determined to make their mark. They'll defy expectations, fight for what they believe in, and do everything they can to fulfill their ambitions. But don't expect them to be perfect, they'll make mistakes and get into some difficult (and sometimes hilarious) situations too. Like the rest of us, they're human.
Sutton is the sister you wish you had.
Hard-working Sutton, played by Meghann Fahy, is the mentor of the group. She's the one they turn to when they're caught in a dilemma or in need of a serious pep talk. She's smart and level-headed, but she's also got big dreams. Sutton longs to break into the fashion industry, but as an assistant with no experience it seems like an impossible challenge.
Kat will make you feel confident in yourself.
Scarlet's director of social media, Kat, played by Aisha Dee, is not afraid to speak her mind. She's fearless and will do anything for what's right. That's what her friends love about her. As a proud feminist, Kat doesn't let herself be defined by others expectations. She's about to start a pretty huge personal journey, one that will see her discover sides of herself she never knew existed.
And you'll totally relate to Jane.
Jane, played by Katie Stevens, has just got her dream job as a Scarlet writer. She's got huge potential and big ambitions, but she's also a bit of an introvert and her new role will challenge her in ways she never expected. With the help of her friends, and her own determination, she might discover that she's much bolder and more confident than she ever knew she could be.
Friendship is at the very heart of the show.
The core of The Bold Type is the friendship between Jane, Kat and Sutton. They are each other's rocks and personal cheerleaders, spurring each other on in work, life, and love. Sure they get tested, like all real friends do, but they always have each other's backs.
Jacqueline is the boss we all want and the boss we all want to be.
Scarlet's editor in chief Jacqueline Carlyle, played by Melora Hardin, leads with passion not fear. As the strong and confident female head of a globally successful magazine, her greatness can be intimidating, but she always builds up her employees rather than bringing them down. She's an inspirational leader who does it all in five inch heels.
It will leave you feeling like you can take on the world.
The Bold Type is fun, feel-good, inspiring, powerful, sexy, stylish, and relatable. And if a watching a group of kick-ass women taking charge of their lives doesn't leave you feeling empowered, we don't know what will.
Don't miss the 2-hour premiere of The Bold Type on July 11 at 9/8c on Freeform.
