In the double premiere of The Bold Type, our girls faced some pretty big life decisions. Jane had to deal with the fall-out from her first Incite article and her sudden fame as a meme, Kat had to face up to a part of her identity she has denied for too long, and Sutton dealt with a vicious whispering campaign. Read on to find out how to tackle some major moments in life The Bold Type way.
1. Don't compromise your values.
Remember, it's your values which make up your voice. Jane stuck to her morals by trying to make things right with Emma and the Incite article, which we really admire her for.
2. Even if there's some major fall-out from sticking to your guns.
Becoming a meme is a millenial rite of passage, after all.
3. Speak your truth.
Especially when it matters most, as Jane did when she took a more nuanced stance on Emma Cox's intentions than her boss at Incite would allow.
4. But be willing to face the consequences.
There are always pay-offs when making big decisions. Sometimes literally.
5. Love who you are.
Be like Adena — be proud of your identity, and own it!
6. Don't let others get you down.
It's always hard when you know people are talking about you behind your back. Don't let their words undermine you — they're honestly not worth your time. Just focus on being the talented, successful star you are!
7. Stand up for yourself.
There are many ways to be brave, and standing up for yourself is the most important one of all. It's time for you to get back your power!
8. And stand up for who you are.
As Alex points out, it's not just for yourself — it's for all those people who look to you as inspiration in their own lives. Be the role-model you've always wanted in your own life!
9. And never lose sight of what's important to you.
Jacqueline knows she still belongs as Scarlet's editor. Know where your heart lies and you'll never go wrong.
