If you have just started dating someone, it can be hard to know if it's just a casual thing or the real deal. We've got some questions to help you figure out where your relationship falls on the spectrum. And watch Freeform's new show The Bold Type for more relationship tips.
Can you be honest with them?
It might sound like a cliché, but honesty really is the best policy. You need to make sure you and your partner are on the same page. Right from day one you need to speak your mind, but be tactful. Don't use honesty as an excuse to hurt anyone's feelings.
How are they in bed?
It's not about "skills," it's about really listening to your partner and trying to fulfill their needs. Someone who really cares will figure out what turns you on.
Do you think about them all the time?
At the beginning of a relationship sometimes you can't even focus on your work because you're always thinking about the other person. As things get more serious, you don't think about them constantly but often totally mundane things remind you of them. Hopefully in a good way.
Can you laugh with each other?
When something awkward happens (because it will) or it's been a rough day, if the two of you can laugh about it that's a good sign.
Is it awkward when no one's talking, or do you enjoy just being together?
If you're simply happy to be in their company, you know you've found someone you can be with long term.
Can you be silly with them?
Are they supportive?
There will be days when you lose sight of your goals, so you need someone who is going to keep you on track. A real partner will believe that you can do literally anything you set your mind to.
Lastly, do they always put a smile on your face?
They're a keeper.
How do you know it's the real deal or just a fling?
